Cables for Android devices

Most Android devices have internal GPS and even barometers. For thos devices that don't, there are a few options to connect to a GPS logger:
  1. Usb Host mode on the phone. This is the simplest. If you phone supports USB Host mode, then try this. Be aware that it probably will transfer data but not charge your phone while flying.
  2. A bluetooth connection. This is possible but not documented in detail. Basically, you buy a bluetooth adapter that fits your logger, you pair that with the phone, and you plug the phone into a power supply if you want while charging. Not a bad setup if you don't mind bluetooth.
  3. An IOIO box. This allows you to charge the phone while flying. The IOIO box converts serial data from the logger into a language the Android phone understands. It also charges the phone. It also allows you to connect to up to four loggers at once, or a Flarm, smart vario, etc.
